Fort Washington, MD — David Jarvis and Aaron Waxman’s Timestorm rallied to a 1:56.4 victory in the co-featured $9,000 top-level conditioned trot on Thursday (Jan. 22) at Rosecroft Raceway, capping a driving hat trick for Corey Braden.
The 9-year-old Stormin Normand gelding floated into a three-hole ride behind K J The Thirteenth (driven by Justin Vincent) and Whoodle Hanover (Frank Milby) to stalk splits of :27.2, :57.3 and 1:26.4. After sliding second-over to stalk the pressing Brave By Design (William Carter) on approach to the far turn, Braden fanned Timestorm three-wide off the home turn, and he lifted through the final sixteenth to nab Brave By Design by one-quarter length. K J The Thirteenth faded to third after giving way to pressure in deep stretch.
Stacey McLenaghan trains 46-time winner Timestorm, who paid $5 to win as the 3-2 favorite.
Braden also won with Torrone Hanover (1:56, $3.40) and Creekside Pete (1:58, $2.40).
Phoenix Rising captured the co-featured $9,000 top-level distaff pace, scoring a pillar-to-post, 1:54.1 victory over Oh Ophelia. Jared Moyer drove the 6-year-old Movie Idol mare, who paid $6 to win, for Franklin and Elizabeth Gannon.
Even-money favorite Stamphillshadow GB saw her five-race win streak snapped after failing to sustain a first-over bid up the backstretch and fading to seventh in the homestretch.
As a result of severe winter weather threatening the Mid-Atlantic over the weekend, Monday’s (Jan. 26) 13-race card has been transferred to Wednesday (Jan. 28). First post is 7:15 p.m. (EST); the Jackpot Hi-5 carryover in the final race stands at $2,329.97.
