Tisbert, DiStefano shine at Plainridge

Marlborough, MA — A youngster and one of racing’s elder statesmen showed off their driving skills on Thursday (May 23) at Plainridge Racecourse. Joeph DiStefano and Bob Tisbert visited the winner’s circle a total of seven times.

DiStefano, 24, won five times, just two wins from the track record held by Jim Hardy and Greg Bowden. DiStefano reeled off wins with Abundanceofcredit (1:58.1), Astro Hershey (1:58), Wisdom Way (1:59.1), Hopeful Artist (1:57.1) and Doully (1:55.4).

Tisbert, 76, teamed with his trainer, Alice Szpila, for hs pair of scores. He has been winning races for half a century and continues to have his picture taken. His lifetime wins total more than 2,340. Tisbert hit the fiinsh line with trotter Tuscan Lindy (1:58.2) and Winbak Vic (2:03).

They go postward again on Monday (May 27) with a 4 p.m. (EDT) start.
