Washington, PA — Tom “Mayhem” Svrcek and Kellie’s MVP waited patiently in the pocket, then poured through the Lightning Lane to capture Friday’s (Oct. 23) $8,500 leg of the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) trotting series in 1:57.4 at The Meadows.

John Sikaras (Fomor) grabbed the early lead from post nine while Svrcek settled Kellie’s MVP into second with Jerry Kehm (Vegas Ticket) parked behind them. No one could mount an effective challenge until the stretch, where things changed dramatically.

Emanuel Miller rallied five wide with Better Call Saul to grab place, beaten 1-1/2 lengths, while Kehm kept the game Vegas Ticket alive for show. Sikaras and the weary Fomor finished fourth but were placed back to fifth for interfering with Lonnie Graber (Mister Ruff), who was promoted to fourth to complete the superfecta.

Kelly Paver owns and trains Kellie’s MVP, a 5-year-old daughter of My MVP-Adriana Hanover who boosted her lifetime bankroll to $121,225.

In Friday’s co-feature, a $17,900 Open Handicap Pace, K Ryan Bluechip converted a second-over trip to victory in 1:50.2 for Dave Palone and trainer Mike Palone, who owns with J.R. Ryan, Stephen Ronay and Collin Ryan. The 8-year-old Art Major-Fool That I Am gelding now boasts $587,077 in career earnings.

Aaron Merriman piloted five winners on the 13-race card while Mike Wilder, Dave Palone and trainer Paul Corey each enjoyed a triple.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Monday when the 13-race program features an $86,779.64 carryover in the final-race Super Hi 5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
