French horse Jushua Tree, who was one of the favorites for the Prix d’Amérique this Sunday (Jan. 25) at Vincennes, will not race due to an injury.
“He is suffering from a hairline fracture in the pastern of his left hind leg. He will have an MRI tomorrow morning and then a screw inserted, probably as early as Thursday,” Jean Michel Bazire told the French trade press, Paris Turf.
Last year, an injury also prevented Jushua Tree from racing in the Prix d’Amérique.
Jushua Tree was supposed to be driven by Jean-Michel Bazire, but he was involved in a training accident last week and is not expected to be able to drive for about a month. Nicolas Bazire had been named as the replacement to drive Jushua Tree.
