Torrin Hanover notches front-end win in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Torrin Hanover seized the early lead from post seven and never had an anxious moment in capturing Friday’s (Oct. 29) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,800 conditioned pace. The race honored the memory of Chris Chambers, longtime Standardbred owner at The Meadows.

Hunter Myers gave Torrin Hanover a comfortable :56 half over a “good” surface, and the 6-year-old Well Said-Transference gelding had plenty in the tank to thwart the first-over challenge of Windsong Leo and score in 1:51.1. When the pocket-sitting Bereaved Hanover finished second by 1-3/4 lengths, it gave trainer Paul Corey and owner Kenneth Ashba an exacta sweep. Jahan Hanover completed the ticket.

Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and trainer Ron Burke teamed for three wins on the 11-race card.

The Super Hi-5, fueled by a carryover exceeding $63,000 and a mandatory payout, generated a total pool of more than $280,000. Multiple winning tickets were worth $788.76 each.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Tuesday, first post 12:45 p.m.
