Augusta, ME — This past Saturday (Sept 26) a field of five pacers took to the track for the Hight Chevrolet Open Pace at the Farmington (ME) Fair for a purse of $10,000.
With an opening quarter of :27.4 and a half of :56.3 on the half-mile oval, the track record looked to be in sight. They came home the last half almost as fast.
A Sweet Ride came three wide and beat out Real Special by a neck at the wire. A new track record of 1:54 was set.
A Sweet Ride is owned by Philip Scott McKenzie of Saco, Maine, is trained by Jamie Gerard and was driven to victory by Kevin Switzer Jr.
The old track record was 1:54.2 set in 2012 by Wholly Louy and Gary Mosher.
