Track records set at Pike County Fair Friday

Piketon, OH – The initial day of the two cards of racing at the Pike County Fair, located in the scenic southern part of the state, produced two all-time pacing and trotting track records on Friday (July 26).

Two Oclock Johnny, Ryan and Richard Householder’s 3-year-old gelding by Big Bad John, captured the $4,446 SVCC 1st division for colt & gelding pacers as driver Derek Watiker woke up the field of four with a mile in 1:57.2 when the Eric Nesselroad-trainee zipped home in :29.3.  Sausalito Hanover (Scott Cisco) and Dragon Parade (Jeff Kirkbridge) finished second and third, respectively.

In the Free For All Trot, Insomniac established another track high-water mark when the Galliers Racing LLC’s gelding by Crazed stepped off a mile in 1:59.4 with Alex Hawk in the sulky. The Brady Galliers-conditioned 7-year-old, with over $300,000 in the bank, topped Rose Run Sydney (Dustin Bothman) – herself a winner of over $550,000 –  by 5 ½ lengths as Jailhouse Hooch (David Myers) took the show position.

Another notable mile was in the $4,446 SVCC 2nd division for 3-year-old pacing colts & geldings when Petacular Rock, the Earl Owings-trained Pet Rock gelding, threw a last panel of :28 seconds flat as David Young II and Scott Cisco aboard Friskiesonaroll were neck-and-neck to the wire in a mile in 1:58.4. Pine Master with Alex Hawk was third.

Fast times and exciting finishes as the weather was perfect. And there should be more good miles to come Saturday (July 27) at “the Pike.”
