East Rutherford, NJ – With three races on the card Friday night, the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Drivers Club races went back to their norm, with favorites losing in all three races.
In the first race on the card, it was a well timed first over move by Tony Beltrami, driving Landia, to a second straight victory in the MADC trot race. He was able to overtake the leader, Bacardi, with Newton “Yogi” Sheridan in the bike, to win by a length. Jim Slendorn got up late for the show dough, driving his trotter Empereurthebest Fr. This mile went in 1:55.1. Donald Maiorano owns and trains the winner.
In the sixth race, it was a patient Jim Slendorn driving longshot Just A Rocket Man who tipped out in mid-stretch to grind down the long-time leader Way Too Close (Tony Beltrami) just in time to blow up the tote board at 63-1 odds. Mark Silva driving the favorite, Warrawee Yankee, got up to complete the triple. This mile went in 1:52.2. Bryan Quevedo owns the winner and Paul Fusco is the trainer.
In the ninth and final MADC race, it was a mid-race move second over by Anthony Verruso aboard his horse Rock On Line who overtook his stablemate Dragon Said, driven by Peter Kleinhans, to complete the Symon Spicer trained exacta.
Longshot Whammer Jammer and Jim Slendorn rounded out the trifecta. This mile went in a sizzling 1:51.2. Verruso owns this 10-year old horse that Symon Spicer trains.
The MADC races will be back Saturday night (June 22) at the Big M with a first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
