Bangor, ME — Young, precocious, and loaded with grit, Liam’s Ace has been dealing himself in against some of the most steely-jawed veterans to be found along the state-of-Maine harness racing circuit. Week after week, to the table they come, determined to teach the upstart pacer some etiquette and manners, and instead, week after week, the old-school campaigners get taken to task, as the new kid in town continues to hold all the winning cards.
Liam’s Ace, a three year-old son of Captain Crunch, won his third consecutive race at Bangor Raceway on Wednesday (October 29), touring the oval at historic Bass Park in a sparkling 1:56.1, the fastest half-mile track win time yet recorded by the blossoming youngster.

With regular pilot, Kevin Switzer, Jr absent from the trenches on Wednesday, Aaron Hall earned the coveted catch-drive, confidently steering Liam’s Ace into bold, first-over battle mode, well before the field reached the 3/8th’s mile marker.
Seldom, since the days of legendary state-of-Maine teamster, Donnie Richards have the Bangor Raceway faithful been treated to such an assertive and undaunted move. Hall and Liam proved more than capable of the comparison though, as the ghosts of harness racing past joined Wednesday’s fans in echoing their approval.
Quickly engaging the front-running Go Dancing A (Wally Watson) in an overland assault, Liam’s Ace strode strong into a sterling 57.2 back-half, clearing to the lead up the back-stretch, while digging down deeply to repel a late finish line onslaught by P L Pasquale (Michael Stevenson), before finishing 1/4-length the best at the wire.
Trained by Eric Bickmore for owner Maryann Tompkins, the win was the sixth career score for Liam’s Ace.
The win was also one of two on the card for Hall, who once again launched a first-over bid behind Bolt Ruler (1:58.3-$3.60), who drew clear at the 3/4-pole before tugging driver Hall to the wire, three open-lengths the best.
In other Bangor news, driver Andy Harrington also doubled his pleasure during Wednesday’s Bangor card, securing the third consecutive win for Whisper Of Luck (1:59.2-$2.40), a recent graduate of the lucrative Maine Sire Stakes program, and Legal Bettor (1:59.1-$3.00), who made his first start from the Kimberly Vafiades roster a winning one.
Closing day of the 2025 Bangor meet will be on Saturday (November 1) with a 12:10 pm starting time, affording the fans with just one more day to witness the Sport of Kings at the Queen City oval
