Pompano Beach, Florida – April 10, 2006 – Ultimate Sundance ($5.00) brought an end to Tweedle Dum’s four-race winning streak Monday, posting a neck victory in the 2nd race Preferred Trot at Pompano Park in 1:56.2.

The $9,000 featured race started off with Tweedle Dum and driver Walter Ross, Jr. going to the early lead with Ultimate Sundance (Bruce Ranger) grabbing the two-hole spot. Tweedle Dum cut fractions of :28.2, :57.1 and 1:27.4 to the three-quarters before Ranger pulled from the pocket to challenge with Ultimate Sundance by the top of the stretch.

Coming down the lane it was a two-horse battle to the wire, both steeds neck and neck until the final strides when Ultimate Sundance kicked in some of his back class to win in a photo finish. Thishorsewillfly (Kevin Wallis) was third.

It was the fifth win this year for Ultimate Sundance. The 11-year-old gelding by Ultimate Kosmos is the old man of the field, spotting his nearest rival five years in age. Trained by Tom Beckette for the Bruce Ranger Stable and owned by Mike Biel of Ft. Lauderdale, the $4,500 winners share of the purse put Ultimate Sundance over the $372,000 mark in career earnings.
