Columbus, OH – Four divisions of the $20,000 Buckeye Stallion Series for 2-year-old filly pacers were held at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Friday (Sept. 6).

The fastest division went to Seaside Wishes and driver/trainer Kayne Kauffman in 1:53.3. The duo got away second off the car but quickly took the lead before the first turn and led through fractions of :28.1, :56.1 and 1:25.2 before coming home in :28.1 to win by 6-1/2 lengths. Bluey (Austin Hanners) was second with Seaside Lover (Chris Page) third.
Owned by Redline Racing Stables, Redracer LLC and David Van Dusen, Seaside Wishes now has $44,500 earned in seven starts with two wins. The Downbytheseaside filly is out of the Village Jolt mare Hallie Gallie and was a $41,000 Lexington Selected purchase from breeder Winbak Farm.
The last division of the evening was won in gate-to-wire fashion when Maddie’s Delite (Dan Noble) left from the nine hole to finish first in 1:53.4. The Steve Carter trainee led through fractions of :26.4, :54.4 and 1:24.4 to win by three lengths over Maa Honey (Hanners). Lucy Hill (Eric Goodell) came from the back of the pack to finish third.
Maddie’s Delite is owned by SCP Stable and has $78,490 earned in 13 starts with 12 wins. The filly by Lather Up out of the Western Hanover mare Moonlite Delite was a homebred by Steven Price.
My Hare Legend (Goodell) won gate-to-wire from the eight hole in 1:54.4. After leading through fractions of :29, :58.4 and 1:27, the Bit Of A Legend N filly kicked home in :27.4 to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Anna Loves Bananas (Aaron Merriman). Lily Grace Hill (Kauffman) was third.
My Hare Legend, who is owned by Ronald Rust and trained by Logan Ebersole, has earned $23,950 in six starts with two wins. She is out of the Jereme’s Jet mare My Hare Lady and was a $35,000 Ohio Selected Sale purchase, bred by Schare Adams.
The first division of the evening was won by Guard The Fire (Cameron McCown) in 1:55. Angel In Paradise (Justin Irvine) took the early lead at the :27.1 quarter with Pink Jammies (Dan Noble) applying early pressure. Pink Jammies took over and led through the :57 half and 1:26 third-quarter.
Guard The Fire was second over going down the backside and went three-wide around the last turn to win by a half length over Pink Jammies. Judge Me Again (Merriman) was third.
Guard The Fire is owned by Hutchison Harness and has earned $21,960 in six starts with two wins. The Catch The Fire filly is out of the mare Gargantua Hanover who is by The Panderosa. She was a $35,000 Ohio Select Sale purchase, bred by CT Stables.
The Saturday (Sept. 7) card at Scioto features the $250,000 Jim Ewart Memorial Pace and the $260,000 Charlie Hill Memorial Trot. There are also eight divisions of the Ohio Sires Stakes going behind the gate. Saturday evening’s card will be complemented with a Family Day at the Racetrack, including a petting zoo, bounce house and food trucks.
The 2024 Scioto Downs meet runs through Saturday, Sept. 14. Post time for the Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday cards, is 5:45 p.m. Post time on Friday, Sept. 13 will be 6:45 p.m. to help accommodate horsemen attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale.
