Nichols, NY — Tioga Downs played host to the Empire Breeders Classic (EBC) for sophomore pacers on Sunday (Aug. 24).
Unreasonable (Marcus Miller) charged late to capture the $200,650 EBC for 3-year-old pacing fillies.
Shes A Streaker (Tyler Buter) was first to the quarter in :26.2. She slowed things down with a :29.2 second quarter and led to the half in :55.4. The Last Martini (Jason Bartlett) came first-up to challenge as they headed for the final turn. Shes A Streaker was first to three-quarters in 1:22.4.
As they made the turn for home, second-place finisher The Last Martini took over the lead. Then Unreasonable ($3.00) made her move heading down the stretch. The Last Martini dug in, but Unreasonable kept coming and got by just in time to win in 1:50.2. Shes A Streaker finished third.

Unreasonable is a 3-year-old filly by Huntsville. She is owned by David Miller and trainer Erv Miller. It was he sixth win this year. She now has nine career victories.
Dandy Ideal (Jason Bartlett) cruised to easy win in the $190,650 EBC for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings.
Dandy Ideal ($2.10) darted straight to the front and got to the quarter first in :27.1. He controlled things with a :28.4 second quarter as he led to the half in :56. Courts On Fire (Mark MacDonald) was first to make a move first-over heading down the backstretch. Dandy Ideal was first to three-quarters in 1:23.3.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Thirsty Thursday (Tyler Buter) went all out after the leader, but Dandy Ideal was not to be denied as he won in 1:50. Courts On Fire finished third.
Dandy Ideal is a 3-year-old gelding by American Ideal. Hunter Oakes trains for owners Susan Oakes, Thaddeus Wier and Alan Johnson. It was his sixth win this season. He now has 11 career victories.
Fragment (Jason Bartlett) won a $112,100 leg of the New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old colts and geldings.
Knoxville (Mark MacDonald) led to the quarter in :27. He used a :29 second quarter and was first to the half in :56. Hunt Off The Press (Tyler Buter) came first-up to challenge heading down the backstretch. Knoxville led to three quarters in 1:23.2.
As they reached the stretch, Fragment ($4.30) came flying down the lane like a freight train and blew right on by to win in a lifetime best of 1:52. Hard To Forget (Matt Kakaley) finished second. Knoxville had to settle for third.
Fragment is a 2-year-old colt by Huntsville-The Show Returns. He is owned by Engblom Stable and Douglass Sipple while trained by Per Engblom. It was his fifth career win.
Jason Bartlett had a driving grand slam.
