Vernon, NY – Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) captured the $7,500 featured Fillies and Mares Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Sept. 13).
Pearl Washing Tan (John MacDonald) led to the quarter in :26. She used a :28.1 second quarter to have a fast half of :54.1. Bell Of Lazarus (Harry Landy) came first-up around the final turn to challenge for the lead as Pearl Washing Tan led to three quarters in 1:22.4.

As they made the turn, Unusual Clarity ($6.40) came motoring down the lane to take the lead. Second-place finisher Huntressville A (Jimmy Whittemore) put on a furious late bid, but Unusual Clarity had the jump and got the win in 1:52.2. Bell Of Lazarus had to settle for third money.
Unusual Clarity is a 10-year-old mare by Betterthancheddar. She is owned by Nicholas Gibides and trained by Harp. It was her third win of the year. She now has 42 career victories.
Leading driver Chris Long added to his lead with a driving hat trick. Claude Huckabone III had a driving double. Dylan Huckabone-Miller had a training double.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (Sept. 19) with a post time of 3 p.m.
