Update on drivers injured in accident at Saratoga

Saratoga Springs, NY —  An accident in the second race on May 12 at Saratoga Harness left longtime local horseman Jay Randall hospitalized with multiple injuries. He is currently at Albany Medical Center.

Four other drivers sustained injuries, including Shawn Gray, who required stitches. Brett Beckwith, Sam King and Chris Long were all treated by EMTs at the scene and released.

Six of the nine fillies and mares in the race were involved in the accident. All were able to walk off the track. Some received veterinary care for scrapes and cuts, but there were no other injuries. All the horses involved in the accident are being monitored for any issues and will require a release from their veterinarian before being eligible to race again.
