Updated health protocols for Illini Classic

Mount Sterling, IL – As the 22nd annual Illini Classic Yearling Sale gets set to go on Labor Day (Sept. 7) at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL, sale managers Ed Teefey and Carl Becker are emphasizing the importance of complying with state-mandated health protocols for all in attendance.

“We’ve had several meetings over the course of the summer with officials from the Illinois Department of Agriculture, and it’s imperative that everyone wear a facial covering and maintain social distancing of six to ten feet at all times,” said Teefey. “Those planning to attend must follow all guidelines for personal hygiene, personal safety, and public safety.”

Teefey also issued a reminder that the sale will be streamed live at www.proxibid.com, offering an online bidding option for the first time in the sale’s history.

“Anyone who has personally exhibited signs of illness or has been in contact with someone who has presented such symptoms within the last 24 hours to two weeks should stay home and make use of the online platform,” Teefey added. “Such symptoms include coughing, sneezing, fever, chest congestion, or additional signs of potential spread of any virus or bacteria or disease. The state has given us the parameters under which this sale can be conducted, and we must all do our part to comply during this pandemic.”

The Illini Classic begins at 11 a.m. (CDT) on Monday, with 194 yearlings catalogued. Pedigrees and videos are available at www.illiniclassic.com.
