Corbin, KY — For the second consecutive week, Adarryl Gates has won the United States Harness Driving Club (USHDC) feature at Cumberland Run.
Last week, Gates steered Mankat to victory for trainer Gary Campbell and owner Noah Stanley and, this day, Gates drove Razor’s Edge to a 1:56.2 victory for the same connections—Campbell and Stanley—overcoming an outside post and a rugged journey to reach the winner’s circle.
At the wire, the margin was three-parts-of-a-length over Talk Racy To Me (Trey Brinson), with Victorian Thunder (Od Johnson) teaming up for third.

Jm’s Determination (Jacquavyian Carter), sluggish early from the inside post, did finish fourth with Dune With Class (Matthew Wilson), handling the lines, picking up the nickel after a rough trip from the eight post, and actually closed fastest of all despite being outside the entire route.
Razor’s Edge, a nine-year-old gelded son of Sweet Lou, trailed his seven foes early as Dontinvitemeun and Michael Riley put up a :28.4 opener before yielding to Brinson’s Talk Racy To Me shortly thereafter and clocking subsequent fractions of :57.2 and 1:26.
Razor’s Edge, meanwhile, had improved to fifth at this juncture and had some weaving in and out to do to find a path to the winner’s circle.
Said trainer Campbell in a post-race interview, “Adarryl gave Razor’s Edge a great drive today and I am very proud of how he’s come along, especially this season.”
Indeed, Gates has won 11 of 41 starts this semester and sports a “batting average” of .381.
For Razor’s Edge, the win sent his 2025 scorecard to 5-5-4 in 30 starts, good for bounty of $42,378. The gelding has banked $289,111 lifetime.
In the winner’s circle celebrating the victory, trainer Campbell further lamented, “You know, I. really think that the (USHDC) amateur club and this track does an outstanding service for the community with frequent charitable presentations and today’s is really special for the Boys and Girls Club of the Cumberland Plateau. They help so many in so many ways and that’s why the program is so successful here…the horsemen are all for it!”
The Mint’s Shannon Taylor added, “The Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland Plateau does an amazing service for our community in ‘Building Great Futures’ with their belief that success is within the reach of every youth and teen who walks through their doors.
“It’s a honor for us to participate in this and everyone appreciates the generosity of the USHDC members in donating their earnings to this cause and others we have had throughout the season!”
Cumberland Run races through November 4.
