The Veterinary Genetics Laboratory (VGL) at the University of California, Davis—one of the leading authorities in equine genetic research—has announced its 2025–2026 Equine Webinar Series, and we strongly encourage all Standardbred stakeholders to take part.

This free, year-long webinar series features some of the brightest minds in equine science, offering monthly sessions that delve into the latest advances in genetics, genomics, health, and breeding practices. Topics are tailored to enhance understanding of the genetic tools now available to support responsible breeding decisions, protect breed integrity, and sustain the long-term health and performance of our horses.
From muscular and metabolic disorders to parentage testing and cutting-edge applications of whole genome sequencing, this series reflects exactly the kind of proactive learning that supports the USTA’s broader mission to maintain social license and industry transparency.
