USTA membership election to be held in District 9

Columbus, OH — Membership director seats in five districts are scheduled for what will be the first national election day for the USTA on Dec. 13.

There were no nominations received for the districts listed below; the incumbent directors will be reseated at the annual board of directors meeting in March 2023 for an additional three-year term:

District 1
• Steve Bateson
• Kevin Greenfield

District 2
• Mike Sweeney

District 5
• Sam Lilly
• Jim Reynolds

District 7
• Rich Gillock

In District 9, which encompasses the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, current membership director, Dr. Tim Powers, will run against Ralph Canney of Old Town, Maine and Jason Vafiades of Freeport, Maine.

Ballots for the election will be mailed to current USTA members of District 9 the last week of October and must be returned to Plante Moran, the certified public accounting firm that will be used by the USTA for the tabulation of votes, in the return envelope provided. Ballots must be postmarked by Dec. 13, 2022, per Article 4, Section 2(g) of the Association bylaws, to be counted in the election.
