USTA urges FTC to disapprove Anti-Doping and Medication Control Rule proposed by HISA

Columbus, OH — On Wednesday (Feb. 8), U.S. Trotting Association chief executive officer Mike Tanner sent a letter on behalf of the Association to Lina Khan, Chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), urging that the FTC disapprove the Anti-Doping and Medication Control Rule proposed by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA).

The missive, which is now part of the public record, advocates separate rules for separate breeds, delves into HISA’s constitutional issues, and addresses the unreliability of using detection times as opposed to withdrawal times in the administration and regulation of therapeutic medications.
