Fredericksburg, OH – Dublin Valley Farms’ Volstead, T, 6, 1:51.3f-Sweden ($729,716), one of the top producing stallions in the Buckeye State, has another star in the mercurial mare Keayang Zahara, who has been tearing up the Down Under raceways.
The 5-year-old Keayang Zahara defeated Australia’s finest trotters when she won the Group 1 $250,000 Yabby Dam Farms Great Southern Final at Melton on Feb. 14. That triumph saw her collect a $500,000 bonus in addition to the $153,900 purse money, after winning both heats, with her final heat trotted in 1:54.2, and a last panel in :26.3.
This win gave Keayang Zahara her 25th victory in 26 career starts (13 Group One triumphs), making her the first Australian-bred trotting mare to post more than $1 million in earnings ($1,164,435 AD) for trainers Marg and Paddy Lee, driver Jason Lee, and owner Levarg Racing Group. That ownership group is a combination of the Lee and Craven families, who are based in Ecklin South, Victoria.
Harry Craven is Marg Lee’s father, while Marg and Paddy Lee bred Keayang Zahara’s dam, Keayang Yankee. She is named after the family’s Keayang Farms – a combination Standardbred and dairy farm.
Prior to this latest victory, Keayang Zahara won the 2026 Cranbourne Trotters Cup, the 2026 Masori Mile, the 2024 New Zealand Trotting Derby, the 2024 Ascent, the 2024 Victoria Trotters Derby, and the 2024 Vicbred Super Series Final, where she set a 3-year-old mark of 1:56.8. Her connections are setting their sights on the Inter Dominion at Albion Park in Brisbane, with the qualifying heats set for July 4 and 11, and final on July 18.
Volstead, an internationally successful son of Cantab Hall out of the Yankee Glide mare Madame Volo, won numerous European stakes races, before entering stud duty at Dublin Valley Farms in 2020.
To date Volstead has sired 44 starters with progeny earnings of $3,300,607, including 2024 Ohio Horse of the Year Sugar Instead T, 4, 1:52.2f ($1,034,396); along with Ohio Sires Stakes winner Jurassic Hattie T, 4, 1:50.4 ($665,994) and Ohio Fair Stake winner Smokeitsteady T, 4, 1:54.4f ($142,589), etc. He bred full books of mares in 2023 (127); 2024 (141); and 2025 (124).
