Northfield, OH – Vroom N Vonnie, smartly handled by Joseph Kramp, took the shortest route around the Northfield Park half mile oval to score a near gate-to-wire win in the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) feature on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
The 6-year-old daughter of Full Count, owned and trained By Chris Easterday, Jr., out-dueled the pocket-sitting Fox Valley Nautica, with Larry Ferrari handling the lines, by three-parts-of-a-length in 1:59.3.
Kandy Sweet, with Justin Van Otterloo in the sulky, finished three lengths further back in the show spot while Shady Maple Alstar, outside looking in every step of his mile (and a sixteenth) was still a game fourth. Creemore picked up the nickel or Eric Miller.
As the wings folded, no less than a quintet of trotters were hot off those wings but Kramp used his inside post to perfection to send Vroom And Vonnie on through from his inside post to take control of the festivities with only Shady Maple Alstar surging forward from his outside eight post and into second at the opener in :29.2 with Fox Valley Nautica neatly in the garden spot.
At the :59.4 half-way point and around turn two, Vroom N Vonnie and Fox Valley Nautica were one-two as Shady Maple Alstar began to feel the extra distance taking a toll as that one was left hung out to dry like wet laundry..
Just past the third station in 1:29.3, Fox Valley Nautica left the cozy pocket in search of the leading Vroom N Vonnie but could only get within a half length in the lane and had to settle for that spot as Vroom N Vonnie hit the line first by three-parts-of-a-length.
In a post race interview, Kramp said, “Vroom (n Vonnie) has been racing really well the last few weeks but hasn’t had the luck of the draw on her side.
“The only inside post she got in the last few weeks was from the second tier nine post, where she finished second.
“I was really happy when she drew the inside this time a few days ago and was very confident that she could go all the way.
“I wasn’t planning on letting anyone get by once I had the racetrack and the fractions were very comfortable for her.”
For Vroom N Vonnie, the win sent her 2025 scorecard to 4-4-3 in 28 starts with her earnings reaching $26,945 this season and $120,812 lifetime to go along with her 1:55.1 lifetime mark accomplished at Scot Downs in mid-August.
As the 3-2 tote-board favorite, Vroom N Vonnie paid $5 to her multitude of faithful.
