Wahs Fire Bug N sizzles at the Spa

Saratoga Springs, NY — New Zealand invader Wahs Fire Bug N recorded her first Open win on American soil on Tuesday (Feb. 21), taking the $18,200 Fillies and Mares Open at Saratoga Casino Hotel in 1:55.

In line to Jimmy Devaux, the 8-year-old daughter of Mach Three left from post seven to set quick fractions of :27.1 and :56.2 before expanding her lead on the second lap and cruising clear to win by 3-3/4 lengths as the 1-2 public choice. Alittlesidehustl N (driven by Jay Randall) closed well to be second in her seasonal debut, while last week’s Open runner-up, Demeter N (Matt Athearn) was third.

Live racing at Saratoga resumes on Saturday (Feb. 25) with first post time set for 5 p.m.
