Owner-driver Yannick Gingras left aggressively to control the terms with the now 6-year-old Father Patrick gelding, forcing 3-5 favorite Amigo Volo to settle into third through a quick :27 first quarter before then backing the half to :57. Amigo Volo trotted uncovered to take on a headstrong Warrior One, forcing the pace to quicken past three-quarters in 1:24.4 and gaining steadily through the far turn. Meanwhile, Crystal Fashion, benefitting from a pocket ride, attacked along the inside in deep stretch. Warrior One dug in to win by a nose in 1:53 over Crystal Fashion (Montrell Teague); Amigo Volo (Victor Kirby) finished third after flattening late.

Ron Burke trains Warrior One, who paid $7.80 to win, for Gingras and co-owner Frank Canzone.

Tim Tetrick scored four driving victories on the 13-race card.

Racing returns to Dover Downs on Wednesday (Jan. 5), with open pacing mares taking center stage in the featured 12th race. First post is 4:30 p.m.
