Wicked Character named Ohio 3-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year

Grove City, OH — In a year with no dominant sophomore colt pacer in Ohio, Wicked Character’s win in the $300,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Championship was the difference on his way to being named the Ohio 3-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.

Owned by Winterwood Farm, Timothy Sullivan, Robert Jackson, and Tom Wilson, and trained by Ron Burke, Wicked Character won five of his 17 starts and earned $230,320.

Mark Adams of Winterwood Farm says the credit goes to Ron Burke and the Burke Brigade: “They did a tremendous job and should get all the credit.”

Adams said Wicked Character showed amazing resilience and is a tough animal with a big heart.

Wicked Character will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association’s annual awards banquet on Jan. 13 at the Marriott Columbus OSU in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets to the banquet are $30 each and can be purchased by calling the OHHA office at 614.221.3650.

The 2023 Ohio Horse of the Year will be announced at the annual awards banquet.
