Dayton, OH – Driver Sam Widger swept the Dayton co-features on Friday (Oct. 10) night, also leading all drivers with three wins on the card.
The first of the $18,000 co-featured paces was taken by Bri Express N. Sent off at 8-1, Bri Express N left from post five and ducked in behind the early lead of Rockinpoppin through an opening quarter of :27.1. The front two began to be challenged just past the half in :56.2, as Racing Ripper moved first-over, climbing within a neck near the three-quarters timed in 1:24. As Racing Ripper started to fade around the last turn, Widger used his ground-saving pocket trip and popped out in the stretch to get up by a half in 1:53. Rockinpoppin hung on for second and Wirelesscaller finished third. The win was the second of the year for Bri Express N for trainer Dean Glispie.
In the second half of the co-feature, Hazardos remained undefeated at the early Dayton meet with his gate to wire victory in 1:51.1. Sent off as the heavy 1-2 favorite, Widger moved the Tessa Perrin trainee easily to the front in :27.2 and half in :56.1. The action picked up as second-choice Twenty Five moved first-over from third and closed within a half-length as they passed three-quarters in 1:23.3, but Hazardos rebuffed that challenge quickly and began to draw away with a sharp :27.3 closing quarter.
Twenty Five finished second with pocket-sitting Tennessee Smooth rounding out the trifecta. The win was the ninth in 18 starts for Hazardos in his 2025 campaign. As he goes for three in a row next week, it will be under new connections as he was claimed for $75,000 by trainer Wayne Oke for the A Piece Of The Action Stable.
Widger led all drivers with three wins, his other with longshot Cara Donna T, who paid $70.60 in a tough win from post eight. Jeremey Smith had a double and the other nine races were all won by different drivers. Trainer Tessa Perrin had two wins.
