Wind Of The North impressive at Harrington

Harrington, DE— Daryl Bier and Joann Dombeck’s Wind Of The North ($3.40, Victor Kirby) wasa 1:54.4 winner in the $15,000 Open Trot Wednesday (May 17) at HarringtonRaceway.

It was the 26thcareer win for the 7-year-old Cantab Hall gelding and trainer Jenny Bier.

Tough Mac, the3-1 third betting choice among the six-horse field, left the gate from postposition five and marched to the early lead in an opening quarter mile in 27.1seconds. The 8-year-old pacesetter reached the half-mile in 56.2 andthree-quarters in 1:25.2, while Wind of The North maneuvered three-wide andbrushed clear of the field with ease for a powerful score. Maestro Blue Chiprallied for second while I Like My Boss was third. The win pushed Wind Of TheNorth to $756,168 in career earnings.

In the secondrace of 10 on the program, William Moffett’s Roman ($3.60, Jim Morand)registered his first career win in his 26th start in 1:57. The 3-year-old YankeeCruiser gelding had previously been second nine times in his career.

Ross Wolfendenhad three wins.
