Vernon, NY — Won Surreal Deal (Steeven Genois) captured the featured $8,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (May 24).
Won Surreal Deal ($9.40) took the early lead but Alta Madeira N (Chris Long) took over just before hitting the quarter first in :27.0. She used a :28.4 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.4. Two Star Magic (Leon Bailey) was first to make a move going first-over heading around the final turn. Alta Madeira N was first to three-quarters in 1:24.2.

As they reached the stretch all the action happened. Third place finisher Two Star Magic took a short lead. Won Surreal Deal then slipped in between horses and claimed the front. Benecio (Roman Lopez) came four-wide. Second place finisher Red Carpet Ready Jeff Gregory) came flying five wide but Won Surreal Deal dug in and held on to win in 1:53.2.
Won Surreal Deal is a 7-year-old mare by Surreal. She is owned by Parsimonious Racing Stable and trained by Jeff Sorenson. It was here first time in the winner’s circle this year. She now has 24 career victories.
