WVIL to broadcast live harness racing from the Brown County Fair

by Josh Potts, for the Brown County Fair

Mount Sterling, IL — Live harness racing action returns to the Brown County Fair on August 4 and 5 in Mount Sterling, Ill. First race post time for both nights of racing is 7 p.m. (CDT).

For those who can’t make it to the track in person — no problem! That is because WVIL 101.3 FM, of Jacksonville, Ill., will broadcast all of the live racing action on both nights.

For those outside of the listening area, you may listen to all of the action from anywhere in the world via WVIL 101.3 FM’s website at www.wvilfm.com. After typing the site into your browser, click on “Broadcast” on the left side of the screen. After that, simply click the link where it reads, ‘click here for current broadcast.’ It’s that simple!

The highlight of the meet will once again be Thursday (August 5) night’s $20,000 Taser Gun Pace — the richest race on the Illinois county fair racing circuit. Named after the veteran campaigner who scorched the Mount Sterling twicearound in 2002 with a mile of 1:53.4, the Taser Gun is always the most anticipated race on the Illinois county fair circuit.

In last year’s edition of the Taser Gun, the Tom Harmer trainee I Can Only Imagine won with a blistering 1:51.1 performance — the fastest mile ever on an Illinois county fair track. Harmer looks for two in a row this year with the speedy Omaha Survivor.

Some of the best drivers in Illinois harness racing will be competing at the Brown County Fair, with Chicagoland regulars Mike Oosting, Marcus Miller, Art Gregory, Jr., and Brian Carpenter scheduled to drive.

Also, the Brown County Fair is once again the only fair in Illinois to offer the public pari-mutuel wagering on harness racing.

With great harness racing action and the chance to win money, bring your family and friends out to see the live racing action at the Brown County Fair on August 4 and 5. You won’t want to miss it!
