York Fairgrounds hosts 3-year-olds

York, PA — Three-year-olds kicked off two days of racing at the York Fair on Monday (Sept. 10) in York, Pa.

Four $3,080 divisions of the PASS filly pace were up first on the card, with Tony Schadel and Bestest Hanover taking the first wire-to-wire in 1:59. Bruce Schadel trains and owns the Dragon Again mare with wife Tanya Schadel. The second division went to Magic Starlight (Real Desire) and driver Eric Neal, pacing the mile in 2:00 for trainer Randy Neal and owners Neal Racing Stable LLC. Chrome Over, a Yankee Cruiser mare, captured the third division for trainer/driver Steve Schoeffel and owners Virginia and Kathy Schoeffel, Marian Schilling and Jim Nelson in 2:03.4. The fourth and final division was won by driver Brady Brown and Cin Cardle in 2:03.2. The McArdle mare is owned by Bob Key and trained by Mike Gillock.

Top Of The Mark was a 1:59.2 winner for Todd Schadel.

Top Of The Mark went wire-to-wire for driver Todd Schadel to win the first of three $3,900 divisions of the PASS colt pace. Harry Locke owns and Mike Gillock trains the Western Terror colt who paced the mile in 1:59.2. For the 15th time this year, Nucular Enemy (Nuclear Breeze) made a trip to the winner’s circle for owner/trainer/driver Roger Hammer, this time in 2:01.3. Anotherbugga edged McJestic to score the victory in the third division. The Allamerican Ingot gelding is owned and trained by John Bell, and was driven home in a time of 1:59 by Wayne Long.

Up next were three PASS filly trotting divisions going for purses of $4,000. Trainer/driver Todd Schadel guided Meadowbranch Jill, a Cantab Hall mare, to a wire-to-wire victory in 2:03.1 for owner Hans Enggren. Barefoot Brook was another wire-to-wire winner for driver Roger Hammer in 2:05.1. The Cantab Hall mare is owned by the Dunn Stable and trained by Boots Dunn. Winning the third division was Diary Hanover (Cantab Hall) and Mark Mosher, going wire-to-wire in 2:06.3 for trainer Syl King, Jr. and owner Mahlon Martin.

Two SJ’s Caviar colts swept the two $5,857 divisions of the PASS colt pace. Meadowbranch Jack took the first division in 2:02.2 for owner Hans Enggren and trainer/driver Todd Schadel. Redder Than Red was a wire-to-wire winner in the second division for driver Roger Hammer, trainer Boots Dunn and the Dunn Stable.

Three Quaker Stake races closed out the day in York, with Mycology winning the first trotting division for owners Joe Offutt and Genevieve Louk and trainer/driver Joe Offutt. The Tejano gelding trotted the mile in 2:08. Stone Valley, an SJ’s Caviar gelding, won the second division in 2:09.2 for owner/driver Cory Kreiser and trainer John Kreiser. The final race of the day, a Quaker pace, was won by Rock That Look and driver Chris Shaw. Jason Shaw trains and Amanda Beinhauer owns the Allamerican Native mare who went wire-to-wire in 2:03.3.
