Pompano Beach, FL — The only thing hotter than the South Florida weather on Tuesday night (Dec. 17) will be a $75,000 guaranteed pool for Pompano Park’s Pick-4.
With four chalks shut out in Monday’s Pick-4, there were no winning tickets on the 1-1-1-5 combination resulting in a carryover of $15,934.89 going into the Tuesday program.
Tuesday’s Pick-4 will be contested on races five through eight.
Also of note, the Super Hi-5 carryover for Tuesday has ballooned to $6,483.73 and will be held in race eight.
Monday’s program featured the start of the “Pop-Up” series featuring a sprint in the opening leg with two divisions with the top 10 invited to the lengthy 1-1/4 mile finale.
Ideal Candidate and Quick Art were victorious in their respective divisions on Monday with the former scoring in 1:09.1 in his five-eighths dash and the latter hitting the wire in 1:09.2.
Ideal Candidate, a 13-year-old gelded war horse from the Mike Murphy stable, got picture-perfect handling from Bryce Fenn to score his 69th career victory in 368-lifetime starts. Now owned by Laura Searway, the win pushed his career bounty to $412,530. He paid a handsome $21.60 to win.
Quick Art, driven by Rick Plano for trainer John MacDonald, made his Pompano Park fall debut a winning one by using the draw (post one) as his wire-to-wire strategy in winning his event.
Owned by George Tackley and Wendy Storrier, this seven-year-old gelding won for the 31st time career-wise to vault his bankroll to $254,633.
Off at 14/1, Quick Art paid $30,00 to his faithful.
Post time for the Tuesday festivities is 7:20 p.m.
