A total of 39,798 spectators saw Face Time Bourbon, driven by Björn Goop, win the Prix d’Amerique Sunday afternoon (Jan. 26) at Vincennes.
That is the highest number for a European harness track in many years.
This year’s race marked 100 years since the first edition of the Prix d’Amerique was raced and the organizers had done a good marketing job.
Also, the turnover in the tote was high.
Just in the Prix d’Amerique alone, the total pools reached $21 million and for the day the total handle was $33 million. However, in 2010 a record of $44 million was bet in the tote.
