Melbourne, Australia — The Cantab Hall stallion Volstead, who was bred in North America and raced exclusively in Sweden, was represented by two winners on the same day at Maryborough, north of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on Friday (May 12).

Violet Stanford and Third Eye, a pair of Volstead 2-year-old fillies, won both heats of the Vicbred Platinum Home Grown Classic on debut.

They will be among the leading fancies for the A$50,000 final at Melton on May 20.

Volstead, a multiple Group winner of $729,716, stood at the Haras Des Trotteurs’ stud in Victoria during the southern hemisphere season.

He stands at Dublin Valley Farm in Ohio where his first crop are 2-year-olds.
