Wellwood champion T C I leads talented fields in PaSS finals at Pocono

Hightstown, NJ — T C I, fresh off his win in this past weekend’s William Wellwood Memorial in Canada, drew post five in a field of eight for Saturday’s $252,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship for 2-year-old male trotters at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

Pocono Downs will host PASS finals and consolations for 2-year-old trotters and pacers on Saturday. The championships are carded as races nine through 12. First-race post time is 1 p.m. (EDT).

T C I went 3-for-3 in the series and tied with Security Protected (also 3-for-3) for the top spot in the standings for rookie male trotters. Security Protected will start from post three with Tim Tetrick driving for trainer Marcus Melander. David Miller will sit behind T C I, who is trained by Ron Burke.

Overall T C I (Cantab Hall-Nicole’s Promise) has six wins and a second in seven races this season. His $341,470 in purses leads all 2-year-old trotters in North America. Security Protected (Father Patrick-Thatsnotmyname) has three wins and a second in four starts.

Loveyoubunches, who had two PASS victories and led the freshman filly trotters in points, drew post one for that group’s $252,000 final. Loveyoubunches (Fordham Road-Lovebeinglucky) will have Todd Schadel driving for trainer Cody Schadel. Sierra Girl (Bar Hopping-Chuckys Luckycharm), a three-time winner in the prelims, will leave from post five for trainer-driver Ake Svanstedt.

Undefeated Lyons Legend (Stay Hungry-Skinny Dip) will start from post six in the $252,000 final for 2-year-old filly pacers. Tetrick is listed to drive Lyons Legend, who swept her four prelims and is 6-for-6 overall, for trainer Jim King Jr. Tetrick is also listed for Geocentric (Sweet Lou-Geometry), who went 2-for-2 in PASS action and is unbeaten in five starts overall for trainer Brian Brown. She drew post three.

Among 2-year-old male pacers, Captain Fear Not, Booming Economy, Gem Quality, and Captain Albano all posted two prelim triumphs.

Gem Quality (Captain Crunch-Twinkle) is unbeaten in three starts this season. He will leave from post eight with Dexter Dunn listed to drive for trainer Chris Ryder. Booming Economy (Captaintreacherous-Economy Terror) also has Dunn listed to drive for Nancy Takter. The colt, who drew post two, won both his PASS starts among four total races this year.

Captain Albano (Captaintreacherous-Angelou) will leave from post one with Todd McCarthy driving for trainer Noel Daley. Captain Fear Not (Captain Crunch-Mikayla Rose) will go from post six with Matt Kakaley in the sulky for trainer Kathe Troy.
