The top Swedish trotter San Moteur is out of the Prix d’Amerique after he injured himself in the paddock and will have to undergo surgery within the next fortnight.
San Moteur qualified to race in the Prix d’Amerique a month ago by winning the Prix du Bourbonnais at Vincennes and he was regarded as the second favorite to win the Prix d’Amerique.
This Sunday the Prix de Belgique, which is the last qualification race for the Prix d’Amerique, will take place at Vincennes. Unfortunately, some of the leading contenders for the Prix d’Amerique will have to miss the race on Sunday.
Italian Vivid Wise As and the French Horsy Dream have been scratched sick and another top French trotter, Etonnant, was treated for an ulcer before Christmas and is not ready to race and will go directly to the Prix d’Amerique.
