East Rutherford, NJ — Jim “Superman” Slendorn was back to his winning ways on Saturday night (July 27) at the Meadowlands, taking the evening’s lone Meadowlands Amateur Drivers Club event with favorite Ferdinand A.
As he usually does, Slendorn left aggressively with Ferdinand A and carved out ambitious first-half fractions of :26.3 and :54.1 while parking Michael Shults and Bionic. It seemed like the pressure might have gotten to the pacesetter, but he had plenty left in the tank down the lane to win by just over a length in 1:51.1. Warrawee Yankee (Mark Silva) got up in the shadow of the wire for second over Persimmon A (William Harrison).
Slendorn also owns Ferdinand A, an 11-year-old gelding trained by Kelvin Harrison.
