Bergsaker, IT — Stald Zet’s Francesco Zet, with Ôrjan Kihlström in the sulky, delivered a strong performance by winning the Sundsvall Open Trot at Bergsaker.
Although Francesco Zet was parked outside for most of the race on the leading Borups Victory with Daniel Wäjersten, Francesco Zet was able to take the lead down the stretch and secure a comfortable victory in a new world record time for the 1-5/16-mile distance – 1:51.4f (mile rate).
The previous record was held by San Moteur at 1:52.1f (mile rate).
The first prize was 1,000,000 SEK, or approximately $980,000.
At Cagnes Sur Mer, the main race of the day was, the Grand Prix du Département des Alpes-Maritimes, with a total purse of 180,000 Euros.
The 10-year-old mare, Emeraude de Bais with Franck Nivard – trained by Benjamin Göetz – was able to show off the favorite Go On Boy with Romain Derieux in the stretch and win in 1:52.3.
The purse for the winner was 81,000 Euros.
