Pinehurst, NC — The Pinehurst Harness Track is excited to offer winter training for 2024-2025, and stalls are available for new stables. The training center is available for stabling from Oct. 15 to May 1 with seasonal and monthly rates available.
Located in the center of the sandhills of North Carolina, the Pinehurst Harness Track offers a unique winter training experience with a more human and horse friendly shipping distance to escape the bitter cold in the north while still enjoying a more temperate climate. The training center has three training tracks including a one mile clay oval, five-eighths sand jogging track, and half-mile training oval. Turnout paddocks are available next to the barns and several barns have newly renovated lodging attached. There are also multiple RV hookups available for rent at the training center.
The Pinehurst Driving Club hosts an annual 2-year-old Spring matinee that has seen thousands in attendance every year as well as qualifiers for older horses before shipping north. There is also a schooling starting gate available in March for 2-year-olds.
The training center has a lofty list of graduates in the last decade that include Triple Crown winner Marion Marauder, super sire Walner, Grand Circuit winning pacers Ken Hanover and Alicorn, and the Indiana champions Ponda Warrior, Ponda Title, and Ponda Jet.
Life in Pinehurst is even sweeter for the people of the stable as well. There are 40 golf courses in the area including the historic Pinehurst No. 2 where the US Open was just played in 2024. Raleigh Durham Airport is only an hour away from town for convenient airfare transportation. The restaurant and nightlife scene has seen immense growth recently as Pinehurst and the surrounding towns have experienced excellent growth in recent years.
