Leaving from post four, Danger had to work hard to get to the front early, trotting to the outside of Social Chatter (Pete Wrenn) through a quick opening quarter of :26.4. Once clear, Danger kept rolling on the front to the half in :55.4 before trotting two lengths clear at three-quarters in 1:24.2. Driver Brandon Bates put Tarshish on the engine from post four, leading the field of six to the quarter pole in :27.3. The 1-5 favorite Brookview Fancy (Joey Putnam), who entered the night riding a five-race win streak, took command on the backstretch on the way to the half in :56.3. The advantage quickly dissipated in the lane as Brookview Fancy came under fire from all angles in the lane. Tarshish got the head start to her inside, squirting through to the front to cross the wire first by 1-1/2 lengths in a career best 1:53.
