Vernon, NY — Aaron Byron drove five winners, highlighted by PL Princess C’s win in the $8,500 featured Fillies & Mares Open Pace, at Vernon Downs on Friday (Oct. 18).
Won Surreal Deal (Chris Long) was first to the quarter in :26.2. She used a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.3 and she cruised to three-quarters in 1:24.1.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Abby Rose (Tom Merton) slipped through up the inside and took the lead. PL Princess C ($9.00) came flying three-wide like she was shot out of a cannon and blew right on by to win in 1:52.4. Unusual Clarity (Ron Harp) finished third.

PL Princess C is a 5-year-old mare by Thinking Out Loud trained by Paul Long for owners Charlene and Jeff Long. It was her ninth win this season. She now has 19 career victories.
Byron got his other wins with Miley Rose, Spittin Chicklets, St Lads Dark Angel and Primo Padre.
