Dover, DE — Primo Maschio was a coast-to-coast winner in the $51,500 final of a late-closing series for Delaware-eligible 3-year-old male pacers at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night (April 3).
Lew Not Lou and Primo Maschio squared off at the start of the race. Primo Maschio finally cleared the lead after being parked out by a pesky Lew Not Lou, who grudgingly accepted the pocket through a snappy :27.2 first quarter. Primo Maschio and driver Trae Porter held the pedal to the metal as they led the field to the half in :56.2.
Won Last Call moved off the pylons from fourth and raced first-over down the backstretch with Shore Not Beach following loose cover. Meanwhile, 1-9 favorite Primo Maschio paced effortlessly to three-quarters in 1:24 and accelerated in the stretch to win by 6-1/2 lengths in a lifetime best 1:52.

Lew Not Lou finished second and Wyatt Earp was third.
Primo Maschio, a sophomore son of Badlands Hanover, is owned by Forrest Bartlett and trained by Walter Callahan.
The $25,000 Open Handicap Pace was won by Downers Delight in a lifetime best 1:49.2 over Adam Twelve and Leave It To Leo. The winner, who was claimed for $50,000 earlier in the meet, was driven by Pat Berry for trainer Traci Berry and owner TLB Racing.
The 2024-25 live harness racing meet at Bally’s Dover has ended.
