Hamburg, NY — Bettor B Sawyer ($36.20) showed it was good to be lucky and good in Buffalo Raceway’s $12,100 pace for fillies and mares on Wednesday afternoon (May 14) as she was able to avoid trouble then steamrolled down the stretch to beat American Jazz by 2-1/4 lengths in a seasonal best 1:56.2 over a fast track.
With American Jazz showing the way through the first three-quarters with splits of :28.1, :57.1 and 1:26.4, things got interesting around the far turn. American Jazz was on top while Sweet Gadgets, Rocknroll Shelli and Bolt Of Beauty were three across the track trying to chase down the leader. But Sweet Gadgets made a bobble, which scattered the threesome, but it turned out to be a fortunate turn of events for Bettor B Sawyer (James McNeight Jr.).
American Jazz (Kevin Cummings) was now all alone but began to waver some in the lane. Meanwhile, Bettor B Sawyer avoided the trouble and stayed the course near the pylons, cruising down the stretch to easily roll past the tiring American Jazz by 2-1/4 lengths. Stonecold Girl (Joseph Chindano Jr.) took the show spot.

It was the fourth win in 16 tries for the 6-year-old Bettor B Sawyer (Betterthancheddar-Dreamfair Orchid), who is owned by José Cervantes and conditioned by John Leggio. The win jumped her seasonal earnings to $26,180 and to $173,513 lifetime.
Denny Bucceri, Kyle Swift, Ray Fisher Jr. and Kevin Cummings all had driving doubles on the day while Ryan Swift collected two training scores.
Racing will resume on Friday afternoon (May 16) with a 12-race program scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. For more information, including the latest news, upcoming promotions, entries, results and race replays, go to www.buffaloraceway.com.
