Daniel Redén, the Swedish trainer, had a remarkable Sunday, with horses from his stable winning major races both in Sweden and Finland.
In Finland, Redén himself unusually took the reins behind Double Deceiver (sired by Cantab Hall) in the St Michels Race at Mikkeli, and the pair secured a comfortable victory in 1:50.2f – with a first prize of $81,500.
Redén also trains the fourth-place finisher in the race, Crown, driven by Ulf Ohlsson – who received a prize of $7,000.
At the Axevalla track in Sweden, the 4-year-old mare La Yuca (sired by Face Time Bourbon) triumphed in the Stochampionat, earning a first prize of $210,000 – Örjan Kihlström was the driver.
So far this year, Daniel Redén’s stable has recorded 102 wins in 413 starts – an impressive win percentage of nearly 25. The horses have earned a total of $2.7 million in prize money.
