Vernon, NY – Capt Jack Hanover (John MacDonald) capture the $8,500 Open Pace at Vernon Downs on Monday (Sept. 1).

Primo Uomo (Chris Long) led to the quarter easily in :26.2 as Capt Jack Hanover ($4.70) settled in the pocket. Primo Uomo used a :28.2 second quarter as he sped to the half in :54.4. He remained in control around the final turn and led to three quarters in 1:23.3.
As they reached the stretch, Capt Jack Hanover made his move first-over as he blew right on by to stop the clock at 1:51.3. Primo Uomo had to settle for second place money. Syracuse Express (Adam Capizzano) finished third.
Capt Jack Hanover is a 7-year-old gelding by Captaintreacherous. He is owned by Michael Kessler, Speed to Burn Racing, and trainer MacDonald. It was his 14th win this season. He now has 37 career victories.
John MacDonald and Chris Long had driving triples on the day. Gary Levine had a training double.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (Sept. 5) with a post time of 3 p.m.
