Wellington, FL – Dr. Michael Carinda, DVM, 64, of Wellington, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025.
Michael was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend. Known as “Dr. Mike” to many, he was one of the most compassionate and dedicated veterinarians, especially when it came to treating his equine patients. His passion for caring for animals began at a young age while helping his father, Joe, at the Cape Cod MSPCA.
A graduate of Barnstable High School, Michael went on to study at UMASS-Amherst before earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He began his veterinary career at Foxboro Raceway before relocating to South Florida in 1990, where he worked at Pompano Park and continued to care for horses throughout the state.
Michael met his wife of 26 years, Viktoria, through connections at the racetrack. They married in September 1999 and welcomed their son, Jackson, in 2003. A devoted father, Mike cherished every moment spent watching Jackson play hockey – from his early days as a Mite all the way to the travel team level. He wouldn’t trade the time spent traveling from rink to rink, cheering him on, for anything.
In addition to hockey, Mike had a deep love for horse racing, especially for his own horse, Henry – also known as Blessed Victory. Treated like a second son, Henry was spoiled with treats and affection, especially after his retirement.
Mike’s love for Viktoria was something truly special. Their bond was inspirational – marked by unwavering love, respect, and companionship. His passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Viktoria, who has lost her soulmate, and their beloved son, Jackson, who has lost a devoted father.
Michael will be remembered not only as a skilled and compassionate veterinarian, but as a man who lived with integrity, generosity, and deep love for his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to help support Viktoria and Jackson with the many unexpected expenses they now face. A GoFundMe has been created in Dr. Mike’s memory: gofundme.com/f/dr-michael-carinda-dvm.
