Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo:
REGULAR FALL SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows returns to its regular fall schedule this week, with racing at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.
RECORD SETTER GOES FOR 4TH IN A ROW
Winslow, now a winner of three straight, will go for win number four in the last five starts in Thursday’s (Oct. 16) feature race, the $18,000 Open trot. The gelded son of Swan For All, owned by David Yoder, came to the Meadows in early September from Hoosier Park. After a second-place effort in his local debut, he has now reeled off three straight wins, in 1:51.3, 1:51.1 and 1:51.2. It is believed to be the first time in track history that a trotter has gone under 1:52 in three consecutive Meadows starts. The 1:51.1 effort is the track record for 4TG. Aaron Merriman has driven him in all four local efforts, and is listed to drive again on Thursday.
ITALIAN TROTTER WINS US DEBUT
The Meadows doesn’t get too many shippers from Italy, but the Scott Betts Stable has brought in a few in recent years. Last week, Gustav Trio IT made his US debut for the Betts barn, competing in a NW2 lifetime trot. The 3-year-old gelding by Ringostarr Treb went wire to wire with Betts in the bike, scoring in 1:56.3. He will be back in the same class, still under the $20,000 lifetime earnings cap, in Thursday’s 11th race.
