Washington, PA – Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.
QUALIFIERS MOVED TO WEDNESDAY, REGULAR PARI-MUTUEL SCHEDULE
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will return to its regular pari-mutuel racing schedule this week, with action Wednesday through Friday at 12:45 p.m. However, due to anticipated winter weather Tuesday morning, qualifying races have been pushed back to 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
IRVINE OFF TO A STRONG START
Justin Irvine has been welcomed by Meadows trainers since his arrival from Ohio last month. In 80 drives, he has 14 wins and a UDRS driver rating of .288. Another driver starting to pick up drives after a lengthy hiatus from the sport is Jordon Miller. The son of longtime local trainer/driver JC Miller Jr., Jordon is now training a small stable and picking up some catch drives. Miller, 35, is competing as an amateur, and won the most recent installment of the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association trotting series.
JENSON STABLE SHARP
Trainer Brady Jenson returned from Minnesota with several horses he had been training over the summer at Running Aces along with several new faces to his barn. He is currently boasting a trainer rating of .353, with 31 wins from 139 starts including his races last winter/spring at The Meadows. He is also gaining traction as a catch-driver once again this fall. In two days of racing last week, he competed in 17 races as a driver.
WINNING IN FLORIDA
Meadows regular Mike Wilder isn’t resting while in Florida for the winter. He is staying active, not only by training horses for the Altmeyer Wilder Stable, but also by driving. He recorded three wins this past weekend at Sunshine Meadows in Florida Breeders Stakes races. Two winners were from the family stable.
