A 9-year-old Danish-born gelding, Eros Zola, made headlines when he won the Prix Jean Boillereau at Vincennes on Thursday afternoon (Dec. 4) – a race over 1-5/16 miles in 1:51.3 (mile rate)!
Eros Zola, trained by Thierry Duvaldestin and driven by his son, Clement Duvaldestin, held off the race favorite, Cobra Killer Gar with Gabriele Gelormini, and won by a length. The winner’s purse was 40,500 euros.
The triumph in 1:51.3 mile rate is the sixth fastest time ever at Vincennes. The track record is held by the French-born Jabalpur, with 1:50.3 (mile rate).
Eros Zola is sired by Zola Boko and out of Global Lady, who is by Angus Hall.
He has improved with age, and he wins, whether he starts in a sulky or under saddle. He is owned in Denmark by KMK Advisory, and since being sent for training in France, he has achieved eight wins in 15 starts and earned 342,100 euros.
