Hamburg, NY – Last season, Dealin With Dewey was the main contender the Open trotters always had to “deal with” at Buffalo Raceway.
Things weren’t any different on Saturday afternoon (March 7) in the $15,500 Open Trot at Buffalo as Dealin With Dewey toyed with the field of seven in prancing to a comfortable 2-1/4-length victory over Beacon Beach in 1:57.4 over a sloppy track.

In 2025, Dealin With Dewey had eight starts over the Buffalo Raceway half-mile oval and notched four victories, a second place and three shows, putting $40,080 in the bank. The 8-year-old gelded son of Wheeling N Dealin-Rockin With Dewey showed that he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with again this season.
Right off the gate, Dealin With Dewey (driven by Brett MacDonald) flexed his muscle, easily racing to the front in posting fractions of :29.3, :59.1 and 1:29.
Beacon Beach (Drew Monti) was the only one able to keep up with Dealin With Dewey with a quarter mile to go. In the two-horse breakaway, it turned into no contest as Dealin With Dewey cruised home to the win as Beacon Beach could only savor the second-place check. Dougadougadew (Kyle Cummings) took third.
Owned and trained by Sara Baillargeon, Dealin With Dewey ($2.40 to win) scored his first win in five attempts on the campaign. The victory upped his season bankroll to $9,996 and to $362,526 lifetime.
As was the case with Dealin With Dewey, a flip of the calendar to 2026 didn’t faze Davey Day Trader one iota as he continued to pile up the victories in western New York as he posted a solid 1-1/2-length victory over Flag Party in the $15,500 Open Pace in 1:56.2.
Last season, Davey Day Trader made $92,115 in earnings thanks to 11 victories on the Buffalo Raceway/Batavia Downs circuit. With just three starts under his belt this year, Davey Day Trader (Kevin Cummings) collected his second straight score locally.
Flag Party (Joseph Chindano Jr.) wanted the front and Lanjo Lee and Davey Day Trader happily watched from behind. With fractions of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:27.2 put in the books, the action was about to heat up in the stretch.
Davey Day Trader took dead aim on Flag Party from the outside and had little trouble in rolling on by. Flag Party held on for second, with Lanjo Lee (Kyle Cummings) third.
Co-owned by James Costa and Pete Kibler, the 6-year-old gelded son of Huntsville-Gigi Deo, conditioned by David McNeight Jr., is now the winner of $14,000 on the year and $197,512 in his career. He paid $6.30 to win.
Racing will resume on Wednesday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) with another 13-race card scheduled.
