Thierry Duvaldestin-trained Idao de Tillard showed once again that he is the best horse in French harness racing at the moment, as he captured the Grand Prix Fédération Régionale du Nord on the mile track at La Capelle in northeastern France.
After racing on the outside of the leading Italian contender, Falco Killer Gar with Franck Nivard, Idao de Tillard and driver Clément Duvaldestin made their move around the final turn and took the lead at the top of the stretch.
Archrival Inexess Bleu, driven by Alexandre Abrivard, launched a late bid from behind, but Idao de Tillard held him off and won by half a length in 1:52.2 for the mile.
It was Idao de Tillard’s fourth start and fourth straight victory since his appearance in the Elitloppet in Stockholm.
The winner’s share of the purse was €54,000.
