Nichols, NY – Sweet Hayley Jane A captures the $14,000 Fillies & Mares’ Open Pace on Friday (May 29).
Vel Cinderella (Joe Chindano Jr.) went to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3. She used a :28.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :55.4. Sweet Hayley Jane A ($2.72) made her move first-up heading down the backstretch. She took over at three quarters in 1:23.1.
Second place finisher Huntressville A (Jim Pantaleano) came flying late but fell short as Sweet Hayley Jane A won in 1:51.3. Vel Cinderella had to settle for third.
Sweet Hayley Jane A is a 6-year-old mare by Sweet Lou. She is trained by Heidi Cushing for owners Ron Cushing and Kevin Sywyk. It was her seventh win this season and 19th career victory.
Mike Merton had a driving triple. Kim Pantaleano and Joe Chindano Jr had driving doubles.
